OMG, There Was a Marriage Proposal at the Emmys!

Just when the 2018 Emmy Awards were hitting a bit of a lull, they go ahead and present the award for Best Directing for a Variety Special—stay with us here—and winner Glenn Weiss surprises the heck out of the crowd, his girlfriend, even Leslie Jones and Claire Foy, with a real live MARRIAGE PROPOSAL right from the stage.

Yep, during the typically snoozy category, Glenn—who won for his work on the 2018 Oscars telecast—took a moment to talk about his mom, who recently passed away just two weeks ago. It was then that he called out a very special trait about his mother: "It's bittersweet. The person who would be most proud is my mom...Mom always believed in finding the sunshine in things."

That's when things took a romantic turn. Glenn (who will probably be a household name by tomorrow) singled out his girlfriend in the audience and referred to her as the sunshine of his life before adding, "You wonder why I don't call you my girlfriend? It's because I want to call you my wife."

Mic drop.

His girlfriend—whose name is Jan Svendsen, btw—then walked to the stage to officially accept as Glenn popped out the ring his dad put on his mom's finger a cool 67 years ago.

Leslie Jones freaked. Claire Foy wiped away tears. Benedict Cumberbatch leapt to his feet.

And just like that, this became the biggest moment of the night.
