OMG: Mariah Carey Will Return to the Stage for ‘New Year’s Rockin’ Eve’

New Year’s Rockin’ Eve just got a WHOLE lot more interesting! After receiving the mega-exciting news that Britney Spears would be performing her hits “Toxic” and “Work B*tch” at this year’s show, we’ve now gotten word that yet ANOTHER mega-diva will be taking the stage, and it’s one we’re plenty familiar with: Mariah Carey (!!!).

That’s right! Exactly one year after her own disastrous NYE performance, the “I Don’t” singer is ready to get back on the horse, releasing a joint statement with Dick Clark Productions to E! to say they’d be teaming up once more to try again.

“We can all agree that last year didn’t go as planned and we are thrilled to move forward together to provide America with an incredible night of music and celebration on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest in 2018,” the statement read, adding, “See you in Times Square!”

Carey confirmed the news over on Instagram and Twitter, posting, “Take 2.”

The 47-year-old will be part of a medley made up of several singers, which also includes Camila Cabello, Nick Jonas, and Sugarland.

The news comes as a huge shock, given the fact that Carey and the Dick Clark Productions team sparred for months over blame for the on-air flub, which saw her all but giving up on her performance when she was unable to hear her track onstage.

The music legend spoke out after the event, quipping, “It’s a shame that we were put into the hands of a production team with technical issues who chose to capitalize on circumstances beyond our control.” She also accused the team of “foiling” her and turning the snafu into “an opportunity to humiliate” her.”

The team, in turn, released a separate statement to say, “To suggest that Dick Clark Productions, as producer of music shows including the American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, and Academy of Country Music Awards, would ever intentionally compromise the success of any artist is defamatory, outrageous, and frankly absurd.”

Ryan Seacrest backed up Dick Clark Productions, saying that Carey was “working with the best” and that “they were in the business of making people look good.”

Now, it appears they’ve made nice just in time for the ball to drop, and are ready to move forward into what will hopefully be a much better year for all parties involved.

We, for one, can’t wait to watch: Go get ‘em, Mariah!
