Bindi Irwin Just Got Engaged on Her 21st Birthday and Her Ring Has Hidden Meaning
Bindi Irwin just got engaged to Chandler Powell at the Australia Zoo.
He proposed on her 21st birthday.
Okay, you’re forgiven if you haven’t been obsessively checking Bindi Irwin’s Instagram page, but you need to know that everyone’s favorite Discovery Kids host just celebrated her 21st birthday and got engaged on the same freaking day!
For Bindi’s birthday, she hosted a party at the Australia Zoo where fans could meet her and her family before they fed crocodiles in the Crocoseum. It was legit the cutest plan and it got even better when Chandler decided to pop the question. (She and Chandler met at the Australia Zoo way back when, so there are layers to this proposal!)
Bindi announced the news on Instagram with the sweetest note about her boyfriend of six years. She wrote:
“On my birthday, I said ‘yes’ and ‘forever’ to the love of my life. Chandler, close to six years ago, I fell in love with you and every day since has been a whirlwind of adventure and true happiness. I’m so looking forward to spending our forever together as your wife. Here’s to a lifetime of friendship, purpose, and unconditional love. Now let’s get married already!”
Okay, now let’s get to the ring! She said it’s a lab-grown diamond, made with recycled rose-gold metal, and the band is twisted and has scattered diamonds around it. She added, “The ring captures the essence of who I am—with its vintage flare—and our life together.”

After she posted the first announcement photos, Bindi shared a few others of her showing off the ring while holding a koala, which is literally the best engagement shoot I’ve ever seen.
Chandler also shared the news on his Instagram and wrote, “Proposing in her very favorite place in the zoo, surrounded by animals, seemed like the perfect way to embark on this incredible new chapter in our lives.”
And yes, I am crying in the club, thank you for noticing!
