OMG, Ashley Tisdale Just Learned That She and Austin Butler Are Related

They say your best friends are like family. But in Ashley Tisdale’s case, that statement is exactly true.

On November 15, Ashley appeared on the latest episode of Ancestry’s 2 Lies and a Leaf series with her sister, Jennifer Tisdale. At one point in the show, it’s revealed that Ashley is related to one of her costars — either Zac Efron, Austin Butler, or Dylan and Cole Sprouse — and she must guess the correct answer.

“Austin and I always say that we’re like fraternal twins born very far apart, ‘cause he is much younger, and we’ve always had that connection,” Ashley said of her bestie. Seconds later, when she discovered that Austin is her 10th cousin once removed, she had the absolute best response.

“No wonder we have such a connection,” the High School Musical star exclaimed. “We’ve always said we’re brother and sister. That is insane. I literally am gonna cry,” she added, as her voice broke and tears welled up in her eyes.

“He’s my best, best friend,” Ashley said. “I’m telling you, when we first met I was like, ‘Oh my god.’ We were like brother and sister from the minute we met.”

In a behind-the-scenes shot from the show, Ashley texted Austin the news, to which he promptly replied, “No f**king way.”

Ashley and Austin’s friendship dates back over a decade. In 2011, they starred in Disney’s Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure together, and they’ve remained super close over the years.

On January 27, 2022, Ashley uploaded the sweetest photo of Austin meeting her daughter, Jupiter, after he returned home from filming Elvis.

“He didn’t get to see me pregnant in person because it’s been two 1/2 years since he’s been home but this guy FaceTimed me throughout and it felt like he was there,” the actress penned. “He even FaceTimed Jupiter in the hospital the morning after I had her. He’s one of my best friends and to see him with Juju is so special ❤️.”

Okay okay, now we’re crying too. 🥺
