Olympic snowboarder Scotty James takes a leap beyond the slopes and joins X Games as an investor. Read the following from Forbes by Michelle Burton.
As an eight-time X Games medalist and the reigning gold medalist in men’s halfpipe, there’s no question snowboarder Scotty James is one of the most successful action sports athletes competing today.
It’s no surprise, then, that X Games understands the value James can bring to the brand beyond just wowing viewers with his signature switch backside double 1260 (three and a half full rotations and two off-axis flips, done backwards) in the halfpipe.
X Games has announced that James will step into the business side of action sports not only as an investor, but as an advisor as well.
Similar to the role legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk has taken on for X Games, James, who is also a two-time Olympic medalist, will serve as a brand steward, providing insight into X Games’ progression not only when it comes to the competition itself but also in regard to fan engagement and working with brands.
