Olivia Rodrigo's New Baby Bangs Have Us "Obsessed"

When you think of Olivia Rodrigo, you probably think of her edgy, girly grunge aesthetic and chart-topping hits. What doesn't come to mind? Bangs. For as long as she has been in the public eye, Rodrigo has kept her hair long, dark, and bang-free (save for a stint with Hepburn bangs at the 2023 Met Gala). That is, until now.

On March 20, Rodrigo posted a teaser for her music video “Obsessed," which drops on Friday, March 22. The song, which was previously a vinyl-exclusive, is being released along with a handful of new tracks on the deluxe edition of her Guts album, Guts (Spilled). How did she ring in a brand new single? Some fresh baby bangs, of course.

We first saw the bangs in the short clip of the video. Alongside dozens of girls in white dresses wearing sashes that read things like “Miss Thought She Was the One” and “Miss Two Summers Ago,” Rodrigo sticks out amongst the crowd in a dark black dress and a sash that says “Miss Right Now.” Though the difference in attire is enough to have you hyper-focus on Miss Rodrigo, it was her baby bangs that really had our attention.

With her typical dark brown hair, the new look was otherwise fairly spot on with what we are used to from the star. Parted down the middle with loose waves, her hair traveled all the way below her chest. Then, the fun part started—her bangs.

The new set was not so much blunt bangs, not soft face-framing bangs, and surely not the Hepburn bangs we once saw on her. These baby bangs were stylishly uneven and wispy. The shortest of the strands barely reached halfway down her forehead and appeared to be the wispiest of the bunch. On the other hand, the longest peices nearly grazed the arch of her eyebrows but stopped just above it. 

To add to the style, Rodrigo framed the bangs with two thin braids, one on each side of her head. Nearly exactly aligned with the outer corners of her eyes, the baby braids perfectly shaped her face and completed the hair look. 

Underneath the hair, Rodrigo kept her glam rather simple. Her skin provided a glowy, perfected base for everything else to shine. Her lips were the focal point of the makeup look, a glossy pink-tinged moment. She left her eyes pretty much clean except for a light touch of mascara. Then, sculpted brows finished off the look.
