And there was a very appropriate 'Carrie' homage.

Olivia Rodrigo arrived at the 2024 Grammy Awards in a throwback white gown littered with tiny red crystals, but for her performance, she swapped the subtle nod to "Vampire" for a more overt full-on red dress — and the bloody references didn't stop there. Rodrigo, who is nominated for six awards tonight thanks to her sophomore album, GUTS, smeared herself with faux blood as she performed the album's lead track.

Rodrigo started the ballad in a simple red Naeem Khan gown with a plunging, deep-V silhouette and floor-grazing hem. As the song progressed, she began to smear herself with a blood-like red liquid that started as a trickle at her wrists and went down her forearms, and the projections behind her started to leak red blood, as well. For fans of horror flicks, it was a very Carrie moment — one that's appropriate for a performer who loves a throwback. Carrie was released back in 1976, nearly three decades before Rodrigo was born, but like her love for vintage fashion, she embraces a touch of nostalgia.

Earlier in the night, Rodrigo wore a white Versace gown that debuted in Gianni Versace's Spring-Summer 1995 collection. Linda Evangelista wore it on the runway and Rodrigo pulled it from the archives for this year's Grammy Awards. In the past, she's worn archival pieces from labels like Betsey Johnson, Chanel, and YSL.

After her performance, Rodrigo was fresh-faced and blood-free as she was seen applauding Taylor Swift for her first win of the night — and 13th Grammy overall for Best Pop Vocal Album.
