Olivia Rodrigo Will Meet with President Joe Biden and Anthony Fauci to Promote Youth COVID-19 Vaccination

Olivia Rodrigo’s incredible year is taking her to the White House. After taking the pop music world by "brutal" force and graduating high school, she’s now getting involved with President Joe Biden’s administration in an effort to boost COVID-19 vaccinations for young people.
In a screenshot posted by Bloomberg White House reporter Jennifer Epstein, Rodrigo’s Instagram account can be seen commenting on a post from the official @POTUS Instagram account showing a young President Biden with the caption, “I know this young person would’ve gotten vaccinated, but we’ve got to get other young people protected as well. Who’s willing to help?”
Olivia is stepping up to the plate, writing in a comment, “i’m in! see you tomorrow at the white house!” The POTUS account replied to her comment, writing, “You bet!”
According to Epstein, a White House official confirmed the plans were real and that Rodrigo will meet Biden and Dr. Anthony Fauci on July 14, with plans to record videos about getting young people vaccinated.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone over the age of 12 get a COVID-19 vaccination, specifying that anyone over 12 can get the Pfizer-BioNTech shots. While the CDC notes that infections in young people are less common than in adults, it’s still possible to get infected or sick or spread the virus even if you’re young. Vaccine appointments can be found via Vaccines.gov.
The Wall Street Journal reported this week that government health officials are trying to step up their vaccine outreach to younger populations amid concerns that vax rates are low in those groups.
Also at issue is the spread of the Delta variant, a mutated strain of the virus that causes COVID-19. Last week, the White House’s COVID-19 experts warned, “the spread of the Delta variant … poses a particular threat to our young people.”
