Olivia Rodrigo and Joshua Bassett are collaborating again musically in a new duet for the upcoming season of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.

Their characters, Nini and Ricky, seem to be in a good place going into season two after finally getting back together. However, things are bumpy between them yet again in the upcoming Valentine's Day episode after Nini decides to go to Youth Actors Conservatory in Denver.

Billboard was the first to reveal the duet which will appear at the end of the episode. "The high school sweethearts simultaneously perform their songs while leaving voicemails for each other shortly before the clock strikes midnight and signals the end of Valentine's Day. The result is 'Even When/The Best Part,' a swoon-worthy 'accidental duet' featuring Bassett on guitar and Rodrigo on ukulele that strategically synthesizes their individual songs together like two pieces of a puzzle."

While both musicians will perform new original music from their own backlog appear in the series, this song was actually written by Mitch Allan, Chantry Johnson and Michelle Zarlenga. Future songs are still under wraps, and with a whole season ahead, there's no telling what will happen next.

Fans will still have to wait until May 14, 2021 for season one to premiere to find out what happens next to Nini, Rick, and the rest of our favorite East High Wildcats. Until then, we'll be here listening to this track on repeat hoping that we won't have to see them break up again just like last year.
