Olivia O'Brien Puts Haters in Their Place with "UDK"

Pop up-and-comer Olivia O'Brien claps back at her critics with her new single, "UDK." It's "about putting know-it-all haters in their place," the 18-year-old tells BAZAAR.com.

"In the internet age, everyone thinks they know EVERYTHING about you and your life when they’ve never even met you. People base everything off of what they see online or rumors they’ve heard with no facts to back it up," she adds.

In the lyrics, O'Brien mentions people who've made judgments on her based on her Instagram or what they've heard at parties. "If you keep it up, you might get blocked," she sings in the second verse.

"I am here to tell those people that they only see what I want them to see and assumptions will get them nowhere," O'Brien explains. "I think we can all agree that judging people before you’ve even met them or given them a real chance is wrong."

"UDK" was cowritten by Anton Hard (who also produced) and The Priest. The laid-back pop track follows O'Brien's latest single "RIP," featuring G-Eazy and Drew Love, the acoustic version of "Beg," and her 2017 EP, It's Not That Deep.
