Olivia Newton-John’s family has continued to grieve the late star since her tragic passing in August 2022. Six months after her death, Newton-John’s daughter, Chloe Rose Lattanzi, revealed her mom’s final words in a new interview with Today.

Lattanzi was joined by Newton-John’s second husband, John Easterling, for a sit down with Hoda Kotb, their first television interview since Newton-John passed. During their conversation, Lattanzi shared that her mom kept her humor until the end. “Right before she lost her ability to speak, she was making jokes,” she said.

Newton-John’s last words, which she spoke to Lattanzi, were “My sunshine.”

Newton-John had been battling breast cancer for 30 years before she died at 73. In August 2022, just days after her mother's passing, Lattanzi shared another special mother-daughter moment: She released a video of her and her mom performing their duet “Window in the Wall” in a studio.

In the clip, the mother-daughter duo wore casual clothing, Lattanzi in a brown long-sleeved crop top and baggy jeans, while Newton-John was elegant in a blue-gray long-sleeved top, loose brown pants, a black necklace with a silver charm, and black eyeglasses.

They hugged and smiled as they sang together.

“You are my lighthouse mama. My safe place. My heart space,” Lattanzi wrote in the post caption. “It has been my honor and continues to be my honor to be your baby and best friend. You are an angel on earth and everyone touched by you has been blessed. I love you forever my life giver, my teacher, my mama.”

Newton-John shared her only child, Lattanzi, with her first husband, actor Matt Lattanzi. Following their split, the actress married Easterling, a businessman.

After Newton-John’s death, Easterling confirmed her passing by sharing a message on her Facebook and Instagram pages. It read, “Dame Olivia Newton-John (73) passed away peacefully at her Ranch in Southern California this morning, surrounded by family and friends. We ask that everyone please respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”

Her Grease costar John Travolta shared an emotional message on Instagram. Next to an old photo of her he wrote, “My dearest Olivia, you made all of our lives so much better. Your impact was incredible. I love you so much. We will see you down the road and we will all be together again. Yours from the first moment I saw you and forever! Your Danny, your John!”
