Olive Garden Will Allegedly Sell You “Anything That’s Not Nailed Down to Wall”

And fans on social media are losing it.

Olive Garden is known for many things. It’s a reliable chain where you almost always know what to expect. Delicious breadsticks? Check. Never-Ending Pasta Bowls? Check. Heaping amounts of freshly grated Parmesan cheese? You bet.

At Olive Garden, you can ask for a freshly grated sprinkle of cheese on top of almost any dish. And while Olive Garden may no longer use the slogan “When you’re here, you’re family,” if the sheer amount of cheese that I and many others allow—nay, demand—to be grated over every meal is any indication, we certainly feel at home at the Garden. It’s a safe space, where you can feel the freedom to contemplate never saying “when.”

That would explain why a particularly surprising TikTok video has gone viral in the last week (albeit it's a much happier surprise than, say, an uninvited and unexpected ingredient in your Minestrone):

You Can Buy Cheese Graters at Olive Garden

According to a video from @bo_gjerness, which was subsequently stitched by popular content creator @jordan_the_stallion8, if you want to take home more than just leftovers from Olive Garden, all you have to do is ask.

The original creator apparently asked an employee at their local Olive Garden if they could buy a cheese grater. Not only did the creator’s OG location send them home with a new grater, it also gave them a carton of cheese to grate.

The natural follow-up question, though, is if that was a one-time deal. According to @jordan_the_stallion8’s video, it wasn’t. Jordan similarly went to his nearest Olive Garden location and asked the manager. He was not only able to purchase a grater, but was also gifted some cheese to try out in it.

The comments section of the video is filled with folks detailing their own successful cheese grater purchases. One user said, “My oldest is currently on his way to Olive Garden to make this dream come true for us.” (He was successful.) Another said, “I called my local Olive Garden and they sell it for $14.99, but they don’t have any extra at the moment.”

What Cheese Grater Does Olive Garden Sell?

There are plenty of different kinds of cheese graters out there. You can use a box grater, a paddle grater, or like Olive Garden, a rotary grater. For hard cheeses such as Pecorino Romano or Parmigiano Reggiano I prefer to use a microplane because I find it easier to clean than a rotary grater, but to each their own.

In the video, it appears that the grater is a Zyliss Professional Cheese Grater, which you can currently buy on Amazon for around $20. If you're to believe the viral videos, Olive Garden's price is actually a steal in comparison. And, if you’re just looking for any rotary grater you can find them almost anywhere cookware is sold.

Olive Garden Will Sell You More Than Just Pasta

In addition to the cheese grater, Olive Garden employees are reporting that the chain will sell you almost “anything that's not nailed down to wall.” Current and former Olive Garden employees commented on the video saying they’ve sold everything from bulk coffee bags to soup by the gallon to wine and even a painting off the wall. Next time you’re jonesing for Zuppa Toscana and pasta, you may also want to consider if your cheese grater needs an upgrade.
