Older Giraffe’s Kind Gesture Toward Baby Giraffe Is Melting Hearts

Have you ever been at the zoo and watched two animals interact, and you could tell that they loved each other? That's how I feel about these two giraffes in this video that @Brookfield Zoo shared at the beginning of October 2023.

Brookfield Zoo is located in Brookfield, Illinois and houses about 450 different animal species. While checking in on the giraffes, they recorded a sweet exchange between one of their newest residents, Kinda the baby giraffe, and one of the older giraffes in the herd. The older giraffe is having a snack, and Kinda walked up to see what was going on. Then the older giraffe does the sweetest thing - they offer Kinda the branch.

Not only does the older giraffe offer the baby giraffe a snack, but they also give each other kisses, too! This @Brookfield Zoo video totally made my day! I watched it several times because it's such a sweet exchange.

Commenters found the zoo's video adorable, too. @Boo-Hoo shared, "The nuzzle got me!" @KD and many others had similar comments, "Awww that was adorable! Making friends!" @Temptresz added, "I didn’t know we have a baby giraffe. Now I gotta see that baby."

While Kinda might look small compared to the other giraffe, Kinda was born mid-August and was 6 feet tall and 130 pounds...that's a big baby! She'll grow to 14-18 feet tall and live 15-25 years. And here's a fun fact: Giraffes only need 5-30 minutes of sleep every 24 hours and enjoy quick 1–2-minute naps. They even sleep standing up!

I'll be watching for more videos of Kinda, she's definitely a cutie!
