Old Navy’s First-Ever Kid-Designed Collection is Here

The summer has flown by and that first day of school is upon us. We know you’re in the last-minute scramble to take care of that back-to-school list and we also know this probably includes some fresh new clothes for your child’s brand-new school year.

Old Navy has long been one of our favorite spots to find affordable clothes your children will love. But this year, they’ve added something really special.

Old Navy partnered with the Boys & Girls Club to create Onward! The new graphic tees will be the brand’s first-ever collection that is for kids, by kids. The shirts will feature drawings by Boys & Girls of America, ages 8 to 12, with empowering sayings like “I Am the Future,” “I Am Unstoppable,” and “Kind Heart.” Old Navy also held a design session at Don Fisher Boys and Girls Clubhouse in San Francisco that inspired additional designs featuring inspiring phrases like "Lift Each Other Up” and “Limitless.”

The mission for this new collection is to change the conversation on the playground and help the next generation learn to support each other, empower each other, celebrate individuality, and embrace acceptance.

The tees are available online and most are priced between $8 and $11. “The designs that these kids created represent the hopes and dreams of the next generation, and we’re so inspired by the future they want to create,” Sarah Holme, Executive Vice President of Design for Old Navy said in a statement.

Also, to celebrate this new venture, Old Navy joined forces with That Girl Lay Lay, AKA Alaya High to record a special song and music video inspired by the tee shirts. The 12-year-old Houston native and youngest female rapper to ever sign with a major record label, encourages kids through rap to be “unstoppable” in this new school year.

In honor of this special collection, Old Navy will donate $50,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs and they want you to consider donating as well. “During the peak back-to-school shopping season, Old Navy is asking the community to help raise $1 million for Boys & Girls Clubs. From August 1 to August 14, Old Navy will match customer donations made at stores in the U.S. and Canada up to $300,000,” the press release states. Old Navy has a year-round option for donation when customers shop online to further support the Boys & Girls Clubs. The clothing brand has supported this charity for the last 15 years to “help turn learners into leaders and provide first job training through the This Way Ahead internship program.”

We think this is an excellent project and your kids are going to love the tees.
