It all started on the set of a movie set in 1975. Before The Big Lebowski and new FX series The Old Man, actor Jeff Bridges fell in love while filming Rancho Deluxe in Montana.

On the SmartLess podcast, Jeff revealed the wild way he met his wife Susan Geston and the prized possession that makes their 45-year-long marriage sound even better than a scripted romance film.

While filming, a Montana waitress caught the star's eye. Even with two black eyes and a broken nose, Jeff couldn't take his eyes off of a girl named Susan and after a lot of staring, he finally got the guts to ask her out. Her answer? "No...it's a small town. Maybe I'll see you around." Even after a rejection, he remained "head over heels" for his future wife.

The True Grit actor must've done something right because in an interview with OWN, he told the sweet story of their unconventional wedding plans. After getting to know each other more and even touring houses together, Susan revealed that she's ready to get married and have kids whether that's with or without Jeff.

That's the moment the actor decided he "can't let this woman go" and according to a story for Good Housekeeping, Jeff revealed, "After two years of ambivalence, I finally got up the courage to ask Sue to marry me, with the secret assurance in mind that I could always get a divorce. Thank God I finally got with the program."

Ten years into their marriage, Jeff received a special gift from the makeup director who was on set of Rancho Deluxe. That's when he first saw what he considers his "most prized possession"—a photo of the first time he spoke to his wife, Susan.

"She shows me another way of looking at something. We've been doing this so long, and we care for each other so much, that our relationship is the most precious thing for both of us," the actor revealed to Good Housekeeping.

After battling lymphoma and Covid recently, Susan has always been Jeff's biggest supporter. With his newest project, The Old Man, on FX, we're sure Susan is right by his side cheering him on.
