Your Old iPhones and iPods Could Be Worth Thousands of Dollars

From Woman's Day

Although iPods aren't that old-Apple debuted the music players in 2001-it seems some collectors are already nostalgic for them.

Yahoo Finance reports that eBay sellers are listing the "clunky tech devices" at eye-popping prices-namely, $20,000 for factory-sealed first- and second-generation iPods. The seller of this in-the-box first-generation iPhone is asking for $18,000. Then again, maybe they're not too far off: In 2014, a special edition of the iPod Classic sold for $90,000.

Even a measly third-generation iPod Shuffle can garner $1,000-if it has never been opened.

Yahoo points out that, although the devices might not sell for their listed asking prices, consumers' obsession with vintage Apple tech isn't going to wane anytime soon. A recent search of eBay turned up a 1994 Mac brochure for $76, as well as this listing for copies of "Apple magazine" from 1979 with a starting bid of $99.99.

The moral here? Whether you've got VHS tapes piled up in the basement, or stacks of comic books taking over the garage, there's probably somebody somewhere who would pay good money for it. This list of top-selling items on eBay is proof.
