The Official Teaser Trailer for 'The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power' Has Dropped

The official teaser trailer for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has just been released during Super Bowl LVI.

Taking place thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, this story covers the Second Age of Middle-earth's history -- with familiar characters like the half-elven Elrond and the great Galadriel.

Amazon Prime Video describes the series:

Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.

As one of the larger projects coming out this year -- even Jeff Bezos is pushing out the news -- the company has invested over $450 million USD in the first season on top of purchasing the rights for another $250 million USD. Fans will know come September 2 if The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is the next big streaming hit.
