HGTV star Tarek El Moussa and Selling Sunset's Heather Rae Young are engaged after a romantic weekend celebrating their one-year anniversary culminated in a surprise proposal.

Heather announced the engagement on her Instagram profile, where she posted a photo of herself smiling as her new fiancé places a diamond rock over her ring finger. The caption read: "The Future Mrs. Tarek El Moussa!!!!"

Tarek, who was dressed in a tuxedo for the occasion, confirmed the details of the engagement and the ring to People magazine. The emerald-cut rock is colorless and eight carats in size.

"The diamond is perfect all the way around—just like Heather," El Moussa told the outlet. "I also picked this ring, because eight is a lucky number.”

Heather, who was under the assumption that she was celebrating the couple's one year anniversary in one of their favorite places, was reportedly greeted by glimmering candles and a pink and red ombré flower arrangement containing more than 5,000 blooms as she walked down a beach path on Catalina Island off the coast of Los Angeles.

Tarek confirmed to People that he asked Heather to marry him after taking a knee in the sand. Ahead of the big night, Tarek made a hushed trip to Heather's hometown in Running Springs to obtain the blessing of her parents.

After Heather said yes, the newly-engaged couple enjoyed dinner in the comfort of a private beach cabana, according to People. Decked out in a custom neon sign matching the color scheme of the blooms, it also read: "The Future Mrs. El Moussa."

Tarek parted ways from Christina Anstead (formerly El Moussa) after filing for divorce in January 2017. Even though the famous couple split, the influential real estate moguls continue to film Flip or Flop together. Both Tarek and Christina went on to emerge stronger than ever in their personal and professional lives, which now include new loves and their own solo shows.
