Only Murders in the Building season 3 recently wrapped, and ofc, it's receiving a ton of awards buzz (including five Golden Globes noms!!). As soon as you get "which of the Pickwick Triplets did it" out of your head, you're bound to be wondering if Only Murders in the Building is renewed for season 4.

Don't you just hate when mysteries wrap up? There's that initial rush when you finally learn who did it, and either have your suspicions confirmed or your mind blown. But then it's like... what now? At least with murder mysteries on television, you have another season to look forward to...or you hope you do. Here's what we know about Only Murders in the Building season 4!

So is Only Murders in the Building coming back for season 4?

It sure is! Hulu announced on October 3 that Only Murders in the Building will indeed get a season 4, posting the news with a photo of our favorite sleuths.

The show, which premiered in 2021, was renewed for season 2 on September 14, 2021. After season 2, the season 3 announcement came on July 11, 2022.

What will Only Murders season 4 be about?

Will the next death be someone we know or a newcomer in the Arconia? We'll have to wait to find out. The same goes for the cast, but given the renewal announcement includes the main three (Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez), it feels safer to assume they will return. Even if tragedy strikes our trio and one of them is the titular murder victim, they can be brought back to life through flashbacks. As for the supporting and guest cast, that's part of the fun. Only Murders in the Building has a great track record of casting actors from the screen, stage, and comedy worlds.

Co-creator John Hoffman previously teased that season 4 will explore consequences. "I think the idea of what you create is a thing you put out to the world, and sometimes you can’t be prepared for the repercussions of what potentially the world does with your thing, and how they feel about it," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "That’s a challenging line to walk, and sometimes you have to face it in that way. So, the podcast and everything else that’s happened, and what it all means, and what it could have been meaning all along. That’s a really interesting world to look at for these three who stepped in that way."

Disney Television Group President Craig Erwich teased a brand new setting for the series in season 4. During an interview with Deadline at the 2024 Winter Television Critics Association Press Tour, he said, "Well, I'm very excited to see Steve, Martin, and Selena take a little break from the apartment building and come to Los Angeles."

"So in the same way that John Hoffman used the canvas of Broadway to tell what I think was one of the most unique seasons you’ve ever seen, the same unique Only Murders take will be applied to Los Angeles, which I’m really excited about," he continued.

Is anyone new joining? Or some more familiar faces coming back?

Meryl Streep is confirmed to return as Loretta Durkin. Although, whether we'll see her in LA still remains to be seen, according to Variety. Meanwhile, Molly Shannon will be joining in on the fun for the first time as a "high powered Los Angeles businesswoman who finds herself drawn into the world of the investigation in New York."

According to Variety, Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria is joining the cast for season 4. A separate report from Variety revealed that Schitt's Creek's Eugene Levy is also joining the ranks of Only Murders' star-studded cast. Details on their characters are under wraps for now, but we can't wait to crack the case when more info is available. 🔍

When will Only Murders season 4 come out?

The comedy series has pretty consistently come out each summer, in 2021, 2022, and 2023 respectively. But, production was put on pause due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, which means season 4 might drop a little later than anticipated.
