Nick Viall is officially the next Bachelor, reports People—and he could be the most controversial pick yet. Nick’s already had serious screen-time on The Bachelorette, coming in as a runner-up on both Andi Dorfman and Kaitlyn Bristowe’s seasons. He's also striking out in the love game right now on Bachelor in Paradise. Always the groomsman, never the groom…until now, maybe. While some people love him, others, not so much.

But Bachelor host Chris Harrison swears they made the right choice, telling People, "He has just become that perennial, second place guy who wants to find love and is as sincere, if not more sincere, than anybody about finding it. It's about giving him his chance to find love. Who deserves it more than him?"

If you’re not familiar with Nick, here’s a recap of why he’s so controversial:

He totally called out Andi for sleeping with him in the fantasy suite. Nick made a name for himself on Andi’s After the Final Rose special when he said, “If you knew how in love with you I was, why did you make love with me?” Andi later said in her biography, It’s Not Okay, that Nick’s comment caused serious issues between her and then-fiance Josh Murray.

He slept with Kaitlyn, too. Not that there’s anything wrong with that (obviously), but Kaitlyn and Nick’s overnight date before the “official” overnight dates caused tons of headaches for Kaitlyn.

He threw an engagement ring. Nick wasn’t exactly cool when he was rejected by Kaitlyn. He even threw the engagement ring he picked out for her in the limo on his ride home.

His bedroom talk sucks. In Andi’s book, she says Nick asked if she wanted to “make love…or f*ck.” Now why didn’t she choose him again…?

But the dude loves, LOVES to post shirtless pics of himself on Instagram, which could partially explain why so many women dig him. Evidence:
