Obama to Publish Presidential Memoir A Promised Land Right After the Election
Former President Barack Obama's new memoir, A Promised Land, which will detail his time in the White House, will come out shortly after the 2020 election.
“There’s no feeling like finishing a book, and I’m proud of this one,” Obama told the New York Times in a statement. “I’ve spent the last few years reflecting on my presidency, and in ‘A Promised Land’ I’ve tried to provide an honest accounting of my presidential campaign and my time in office: the key events and people who shaped it, my take on what I got right and the mistakes I made, and the political, economic, and cultural forces that my team and I had to confront then — and that as a nation we are grappling with still.”

A Promised Land has a November 17 publication date.
You won't be able to get your hands on the book until two weeks after the 2020 election, but it's already available for pre-order.
It will be the first of two volumes.
The former president clearly has plenty of stories to tell. A Promised Land the first in a pair, will clock in at 768 pages. Per a description of the text, the book will document Obama's thoughts "as he assembles his cabinet, wrestles with a global financial crisis, takes the measure of Vladimir Putin, overcomes seemingly insurmountable odds to secure passage of the Affordable Care Act, clashes with generals about U.S. strategy in Afghanistan, tackles Wall Street reform, responds to the devastating Deepwater Horizon blowout, and authorizes Operation Neptune’s Spear, which leads to the death of Osama bin Laden."
It's expected to be a big seller.
Per the Times, which first broke the news of the book in September:
Demand for the book is expected to be extraordinary, and Crown, an imprint of Penguin Random House, has ordered a first printing for the U.S. edition of 3 million copies. To accommodate such an enormous order, Crown plans to print about 1 million of those books in Germany and has arranged for three ships, outfitted with 112 shipping containers, to bring those copies to the United States.
