‘It’s like an oasis’: The Rockaway Bazaar at Rockaway Beach is back

QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) — If you’re looking for some good eats and a beach to check out this long weekend, look no further. The Rockaway Bazaar at Rockaway Beach is now open.

Starting Friday, nearly a dozen food vendors, most of them local, are now open seven days a week for the summer. Sean Akin is one of them.

NYC to ease lifeguard requirements to keep beaches open

He owns Seany Pizza.

A Rockaway Beach local, he’s thrilled to be serving his delicious recipes to the community;

“It’s only the beginning, a perfect day,” said Sean akin of Seany Pizza.

The Bazaar, located on Beach 97th Street and Shore Front Pkway, is not only a place for food.

Starting this weekend, there will be live music and a DJ every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

“We’re trying to bring live music, great food great culture to the people,” said Stephen DiBenetto with Rockaway Bazaar.

“It’s like an oasis in New York that people don’t even realize is here. We have an amazing beach- the ocean is beautiful. It’s a great little town.”

Just steps from the concessions, the Rockaway Bazaar will also add more family-friendly fun this summer: mini golf and a new shuffleboard court.

Nick Deprima and his business partner Alex Moule are thrilled to be there.

They own Odd Fellows Ice Cream and Wise Clock Cafe.

Moule says there is no place like Rockaway Beach.

Alex Moule says, “When it comes to the middle of the summer and the heat waves, when it’s 85 in Manhattan, it’s 75 in Rockaway, so you’re going to cool down. You have a lot of local vendors who are passionate about what they serve and provide a nice atmosphere for their customers.”

These Rockaway locals encourage all New Yorkers to check out the bazaar this summer.
