NYC Locals Step Up to Help Dog Who Got Separated From Owner on the Subway

He was without a collar and leash and all alone on a New York City subway platform—but people weren’t going to let him get hurt. When subway goers saw the lost dog, they sprang into action to make sure he was kept safe.

The little dog looked so worried, so two kind women went up to him to pet him and make sure he was okay. He leaned into them, clearly so scared about where his owner was.

Even though the women found him and made a point to care, he was still so nervous looking. They were concerned about him possibly running away onto the tracks, so they remained with him petting him and talking to him.

While the TikTok doesn’t reveal what ended up happening with the dog, we really hope that he was able to be reunited with his owner. It must have been so scary for the little dog to be without his person.

As the kind women sat there with the dog, countless people walked by not paying them any mind. This could’ve been a much worse situation; the dog could have fallen onto the tracks if no one cared enough to stop and sit with him.

Unfortunately, people’s lack of caring is what can leave lost pets without a home. People will act complacent and don’t feel that it’s their responsibility to wrangle a lost dog, leaving them outside to fend for themselves.

We’re glad that wasn’t the case for this dog, and he was probably so happy to see two friendly faces during the ordeal. We’re glad that he wasn’t forced to deal with this alone!

We’re a bit disappointed that we don’t get to find out what really happened to the dog after the TikTok stopped recording. In true New York City fashion, we’re sure the lost dog was reunited with his owner thanks to the two kind women.
