NYC Dog Foster Mom Shares the Magical Moment That Makes Fostering Worth the Effort
If you spend much time watching pet videos on social media, it's inevitable that you'll run into clips of shelter dogs and cats looking for their forever homes. Some of the videos can be immensely sad, and, for people with a soft spot for animals, it can feel heartbreaking just to be reminded about homeless pets.
I often feel guilty, as if I'm not doing enough to help shelter pets, but it can help just to look at all of the different things a person can do. I may not have room to adopt a dog right now, but I can always consider fostering an animal just like NYC writer and dog foster Isabel Klee. On October 1, she shared the special moment that makes fostering pets worth the time and patience.

Congratulations, Fonda! It must feel so special for Isabel, who goes by @simonsits on TikTok, to have played a pivotal role in the rescue dog's happy ending. Little did she know that she was helping other pet foster owners feel seen, too!
"It’s so bittersweet!" agreed @brittanymporter. "I fostered with MuddyPaws recently and had such mixed emotions when I got that text last weekend." I can only imagine! So far, I've only been able to help my local dog rescues with weekend fostering, and even that left me misty-eyed when Monday rolled around.
It may be emotionally taxing at times, but many people find the joys and rewards of fostering to be well worth it. And I understand why! Helping a dog find their forever home is a major accomplishment, and it creates room for another rescue dog to enjoy the comfort of a foster home. It's a win-win!
