NY Ski Resort's Snowmaking Roars Back To Life

Yesterday, Whiteface Mountain, New York, announced it had begun snowmaking,  sharing a video of its snow guns firing at upper elevations.

Predictably, the announcement drew a positive response from Whiteface's clientele, with several skiers expressing excitement in the comments section:

"Laying out that frozen prozac I see." (I'm stealing this one, what a phrase.)

"Y'all have guns that shoot happiness. Big thanks to the smile makers. Give 'em a raise."

"Thank you for the bts . i'd never seen the ops of it."

"Thank you snow makers!!!"

Earlier this month, Whiteface was treated to a round of November snowfall that deposited "an inch or two of fresh snow up on the summit," per a recent Instagram post from the resort.

NOAA's forecast for Whiteface Mountain continues to look promising through the rest of this week, with temperatures predicted to hang near or below freezing -- a potential boon to the resort's snowmaking efforts.

Whiteface's planned opening date is November 24th, weather and conditions permitting.
