You Can Now Find These Homegrown Southern-Made Ice Pops at Publix

Summertime is just around the corner, and we’re already dreaming of lazy afternoons spent enjoying ice pops under the hot summer sun. One of our favorite Southern sources for frozen treats is The Hyppo, a Florida-based pop operation that makes its home in sunny St. Augustine.

Lucky for us, ice pops from The Hyppo are now available beyond Florida’s state lines. The sweet treats are available for purchase at over 400 Publix locations across the South, including in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Alabama.

According to a press release, “Publix Super Market locations now carry five Hyppo flavors; Mango Mojito, Watermelon Hibiscus, Strawberry Lemonade, Sparkling Mango, and Publix Exclusive Honeydew Green Tea. At 3.2 ounces apiece, Hyppo pops are larger than your conventional ice pops and come with a MSRP of $2.75 each.” Locate one of these treats amid the single-serve offerings in your local Publix freezer section, and you’ll find yourself with a delicious Mexican-style paleta made with local Florida produce.

Even though these pops are now more readily available outside of Florida, you may still want to plan a visit to St. Augustine this summer. That’s because The Hyppo has a couple of great storefronts in town and offers hundreds of flavors (around 450 in all), including special blends such as Cucumber Lemon Mint, Melon & Cracked Pepper, and Elvis, a fan favorite mix of peanut butter, honey, and banana. Other locations in Florida can be found in Tampa, Sarasota, Jacksonville, St. Petersburg, Gainesville, and Ft. Lauderdale.

According to the company website, “Entrepreneur Stephen DiMare began The Hyppo as a humble ice pop stand in historic downtown Saint Augustine in 2010. Seeking to combine local-in-season produce and herbs in delightful new ways. DiMare's pops became instantly popular with locals, students, and visitors alike.” You can learn why at thehyppo.com, and you can find more information about They Hyppo Gourmet Ice Pops on both Facebook and Instagram @thehyppo.
