Morris & Co. was founded by English artist William Morris (1834-1896) and several friends in 1861. Morris, who was heavily influenced by flora and fauna in his work, aimed to provide affordable “art for all” by creating handcrafted home furnishings that would endure.

The design firm was best known for its hand-block-printed wallpapers. After it closed in 1940, its archives and remaining wallpaper stock were purchased by another English textile house, Sanderson & Sons. Today, both labels are housed under the Style Library umbrella.

Each piece of Selamat’s new collection embodies the design principles Morris was known to value: They are crafted by hand; feature natural materials such as teak, acacia wood, rattan, and rush; and depict organic motifs like flowers, leaves, and vegetables. The collection will be available in select retailers this fall.
