'There’s nothing sexier than an organized pantry': Jonathan Scott and Zooey Deschanel show off their newly neat space

It is perhaps only inevitable that Property Brothers star Jonathan Scott and actress Zooey Deschanel have an enviable dream home – but in all its glory, nothing is quite as beautiful as their pantry.

'My philosophy is that your home should make your life easier, and nothing makes our life easier than a beautiful, completely organized pantry,' Jonathan announced while showcasing his pantry organization ideas on Instagram.

Jonathan and Zooey (best known for her role in New Girl) purchased their Los Angeles home (named Park House) in 2020 and immediately began renovating. The couple is not shy of showing off the results on social media – and their posts are inspiring at all times of the year – but never more so than when we're mid-spring cleaning season. They started with their pantry – and we're inclined to follow suit.

'There’s nothing sexier than an organized pantry, and we love ours. Neat Method comes in and just whips us into shape. Everything [is] labeled, everything [is] where it’s supposed to be. It actually makes life a little easier because you’re not scrambling to find things. You can see when things are getting low,' Jonathan says.

The pantry features wallpaper with an intricate tree motif – reminding us that spaces that are (almost) entirely practical can still be good-looking. The walls are lined with shelves of containers, decanted condiments, and a KitchenAid Classic Stand Mixer atop the cream countertops.

'Use baskets to keep small items like snacks, crisps, and packets together. It takes up less space than the packaging that the items came in and will prevent them from scattering across the shelves in the pantry,' Sue says. 'Having similar products stored makes it easy to see what you have, so you’ll be more likely to use them up and less likely to buy things that you don’t need.'

The expert adds that if you keep your rice and pasta in packets rather than decanting, it's a good idea to store all the packages together in a container. 'If one of the packets splits, the ingredients that escape will be contained rather than spill all over the cupboard shelves,' she explains.
