While it may be the big daddy of Wendy's secret menu items, not everyone can agree on what this burger entails. Some Wendy's lovers say it's six patties, some say nine, and others say 12. Unfortunately, it may solely depend on what your local Wendy's is willing to give you.

If it sounds too good to be true, there's a good reason for that. No, it's not actually too good to be true—the 444 really does exist—but it's because Wendy's basically wanted to create a lane in the fast food industry that had otherwise gone extinct.

As explained by the official Wendy's Blog:

"... years ago, fast food value menus were getting stale. No one really had a 'dollar' menu anymore, and restaurants that did only offered small or basic sandwiches... Similarly, customers told us for years that they loved Wendy’s value menu because they could build a meal that didn’t break the bank. Grab two Double Stack™ burgers, Jr. Fries, and a Frosty® and you could eat an amazing lunch for $5. But it was getting harder and harder to get good food for that amount of money, not just at Wendy’s, but at every fast food restaurant in America. And so, Wendy’s – the fast food brand that created the first 99¢ Super Value Menu in 1989 – went to work on something new that could make eating out affordable again."

Typically, the 444—or 4 for $4—gets you a Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger, 4-piece Nuggets, Small Fries and a Small fountain Drink. Now that's value!
