North Shore Lifeguard Drama ‘Rescue: HI-Surf’ Gets Trailer

Rescue: HI-Surf is an upcoming action drama that follows the professional and personal lives of heavy-water lifeguards on Oahu’s north shore. Fox first announced the show last April and it’s set to premiere in the fall. Today, the network officially released a teaser trailer that gives us an actual glimpse of the show.

The series is showrun by Matt Kester, who previously wrote for the surf-heavy TNT drama Animal Kingdom and actually hails from the North Shore, so hopefully the series will manage to stay true to its subject matter. It’s produced and directed by Shameless producer John Wells.

Though the show’s production in Oahu was initially delayed due to strikes, Rescue: HI-Surf seems to have the full confidence of Fox behind it. After seeing the first two episodes, the network ordered seven backup scripts, which led into a seven episode back order. Most recently, Fox gave the series a coveted post-Super Bowl slot.

Rescue: HI-Surf stars Robbie Magasiva, Arielle Kebbel, Adam Demos, Kekoa Kekumano, Alex Aiono and Zoe Cipres. Sea Shimooka, Shawn Hatosy and Ian Anthony Dale are recurring.
