SHOP THE NORTH FACE X GUCCI NOW

Update 1: The North Face and Gucci just revealed where you can buy the collection IRL if you're ready to venture out to get the goods on January 6. If only you already had a TNF x Gucci tent!

There will be two U.S.-based Gucci Pins—pop-up shops inspired by the pins on digital maps—in Brooklyn and L.A., plus shop-in-shops at Gucci stores in San Francisco and Chicago, and at Holt Renfrew in Toronto. The collection will then become available online and at select Gucci locations in mid-January. The full list of locations is below. Good luck out there.

  • Brooklyn: 134 N 6th Street, Brooklyn, NY, 11249

  • Downtown Los Angeles: 2120 East 7th Place, Los Angeles, CA, 90021

  • San Francisco: 240 Stockton Street, San Francisco, CA, 94108

  • Chicago: 900 North Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL, 60611

  • Toronto (Holt Renfrew Yorkdale): 3401 Dufferin Street, North York, ON, M6A 2T9

Ah, to get away. Like, really out there. To set your sights on the horizon and just go. It's a fantasy, for sure, never quite as simple as it seems. But damn is it an alluring one, especially in the midst of a global pandemic that has so many of us huddled close to home constantly.

Which might be why the newly revealed collaboration between The North Face and Gucci hits just right, right now. It's all about adventure, whether that's in the form of a trip to the top of a mountain or—more realistically, for most—throwing on some clothes that at the very least feel transformative. And if those clothes feature all the outdoor-ready know-how you'd expect from The North Face, plus all the aesthetic flourish we've come to expect (and love) from Gucci's creative director Alessandro Michele, well, all the better.

A couple months ago, we got a tease of the upcoming collaboration between TNF and Gucci, but today is the big event. The duo revealed its entire—expansive—collection of clothing, bags, boots, and even tents and sleeping bags in an equally expansive campaign photographed by Daniel Shea in the Alps. There are mountains and trees and lakes. There are groups of slightly quirky and very attractive models smiling in the sunshine, basking in the wonder of nature while swaddled in down puffer jackets (based on original The North Face designs from the '70s, with some featuring new floral patterns created for the collection) or stomping around in hiking boots (complete with a new collaborative logo).

That ain't even close to all of it, though. The North Face x Gucci collection also features everything from windbreakers and fleeces to a series of bags and backpacks emblazoned with the new logo, new patterns, and new patterns created from the new logo. That's in addition to tees and sweats and quilted jackets and...well, you get the gist. There's a lot of cool stuff here. Like, a whole lot.

And knowing that there's a whole lot of stuff, the teams at Gucci and TNF have been mindful of its impact. Bags contain Econyl, a version of nylon sourced from things like fishing nets, which is itself recyclable. Cardboard comes from sustainably managed forest sources, is uncoated so it can be recycled, and the boxes made from it feature handles to eliminate the need for shopping bags—all very much in keeping with The North Face's commitment to the outdoors.

It's worth noting that the breadth of the range doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be any easier for you to get your hands on these new goodies. The collection is debuting in China, for one thing, though a limited selection will be available through Gucci's online store. Plus, fashion fans and hypebeasts alike are hungry for this stuff. Expect them to shop with a ferocity to match their level of anticipation.

For now, though, don't worry about that. Instead, think about getting out there in your new The North Face x Gucci gear and chasing that horizon. The fantasy just got a little bit richer.
