REI’s ongoing April sales are making room for warm-weather outdoor gear, but there are still plenty of shoulder-season styles to score for less. Among them are tons of men's boots, spring skiing gear, and even GPS watches. But some of the best deals you'll find at REI right now are on rain jackets, including one from The North Face that's over $100 off.

The North Face 86 Retro Mountain Jacket sounds like winter, but it’s a relatively lightweight and waterproof layer that’s perfect for braving the worst spring showers. Originally $260, this rain jacket is now 50% off and selling for as low as $130. It's available in sizes small through 2XL in a vibrant color-blocked '80s theme that's much cooler-looking than any plain old shell.

This rain jacket is packed with features to keep you comfortable and dry. It has a front zip and snap placket for versatile styling, and the secure zippered pockets keep your gear dry. Drawstrings and hook-and-loop closures on the hood and cuffs, respectively, help you secure the jacket against wind and rain. The two-layer shell, a water-repellent coating, and sealed seams provide waterproof performance, while The North Face’s DryVent technology and the underarm zippers allow for breathability by allowing warm air to escape. The jacket is also made with recycled materials; the lining is recycled polyester, while the outer is recycled nylon. Plus, the DWR coating is made without PFCs, known as a forever chemical.

Shoppers were impressed with the style and performance of the jacket, including one who appreciated the “modern function with retro style.” Another liked that it was “stylish and cleverly designed,” adding they “really enjoy the features like zipped arms.” A third shopper liked that it was “breathable and weatherproof.”

Others attested to owning this jacket when it was first released, with one writing that this was their third Mountain jacket in 36 years. “Based on my past experiences and the use I've already gotten from my new 86 Retro Mountain Jacket, I think I will have excellent service from it as well,” they said. Similarly, another shopper wrote that it was their “second time buying this jacket in 20 years,” adding, “This is the updated retro version (different materials) but I love the fit, the protection, and the durability it offers.”

If you’re willing to lean into the ‘80s inspiration behind this rain jacket, it’s a great value for a serious piece of waterproof clothing at $130. But with several sizes already sold out, you'll want to act fast if this is the one for you.
