North Carolina Baseball Team's Black Labrador Is the Cutest Bat Retriever in the League

Baseball might be America's pastime, but it's not everyone's favorite sport. It's nothing personal! I can appreciate the strength and precision it takes to hit a home run, but (sorry!) it's just not for me. That being said, I'd happily sit through nine innings and zero home runs just to watch Willie Mae Mays fetch the bat between plays.

Willie Mae is an athletic black Labrador who works for the Greensboro Grasshoppers baseball team. She's the official 'bat dog' for the North Carolina team, though she won hearts across the globe thanks to a recent viral video. The way her handler hypes her up is the sweetest thing, and she couldn't possibly be more excited!

Good girl, Willie Mae! She is, without a doubt, the star of the show at these baseball games. Clearly, this dog loves to run! Over 200 thousand people have reacted to this viral Facebook video, and we have a feeling it won't be the last the team posts of their smallest teammate. Fans in North Carolina already love her, and now it's time for the rest of the world to appreciate her, too.

One commenter named Brandy shared, "My favorite times are when the batter forgets and starts walking off with the bat and then says, "Oh yeah!" And then drops it so she can get it." I'd do the very same thing! This Labrador Retriever clearly loves her job, and no one is going to get in her way if she has anything to say about it!

As much as I love Willie Mae and her enthusiasm for baseball, I also love her handler and the way he keeps her safe when someone is at bat. He keeps her behind the plexiglass until it's showtime, and that only hypes her up even more. He really loves her!

This happy dog couldn't possibly get any cuter, though I'm sure she'll top this performance next time she's on the field. After all, Retriever breeds love nothing more than to retrieve!
