Normani and Megan Thee Stallion Team Up on “Diamonds” to Take Down Bad Guys

“Diamonds” is the first of many bangers on the Birds of Prey soundtrack.

We still have a few weeks to go before Birds of Prey or, the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn arrives in theaters, but Normani and Megan Thee Stallion are getting the party started early with the release of their song "Diamonds" from the movie's soundtrack. And sure, I know that Margot Robbie is technically the star of Birds of Prey, but right now Normani and Megan are threatening to take the spotlight because both the song "Diamonds" and the accompanying video are just that good.

Normani and Megan are a killer duo, and this track showcases just how good they are together. Megan's verses? Perfection. Normani's work on that chorus? Sublime. It only gets better when you watch the "Diamonds" music video, which cuts in scenes from Birds of Prey featuring Margot's character, cheeky anti-hero Harley Quinn, but gives most of the focus to Normani and Megan. The video also recreates some iconic moments from the movie, including Megan fighting bad guys with a comically large hammer in a fun house and Normani riffing on Marilyn Monroe's "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend," something Harley Quinn also does in Birds of Prey.

Naturally, Twitter is exploding with love for the "Diamonds" music video and single, and it might be only the first wave of praise we see for a song from the Birds of Prey soundtrack. Earlier this week, the full soundtrack listing for Birds of Prey was released, and it's already a contender for the best of 2020. The album features an entirely female line-up and includes the likes of Doja Cat, Halsey, and Lauren Jauregui. You mean to tell me I'm going to watch Harley Quinn and her girl gang kick a*s and I get to hear new music from Halsey at the same time? Sign me up.

The soundtrack will be released the same day as Birds of Prey, February 7, so we'll just have to keep "Diamonds" on repeat until then so we can maintain this high level of excitement. Or, y'know, maybe we can get another single from the soundtrack?
