Normani Kordei Describes Touring With Ariana Grande

"It's like a sleepover on wheels."

Normani Kordei has joined Ariana Grande for the first leg of her Sweetener tour, opening for Ari as she brings the magic of her latest two albums all around the world. According to Normani, the experience has been a ton of fun — it’s more than just a concert, it’s “a sleepover on wheels.”

Are Normani and Ari doing face masks and watching rom-coms? Well, you’re not far off! Normani gave People the scoop on what happens on the girl-power heavy Sweetener bus.

“We wear face masks, wake up really late, have breakfast, that kind of jam,” she told the mag. It’s not just the Ari and Normani show, either; the band and dancers get in on the fun too. “There are so many women around me, I’m really inspired. It’s like a sleepover on wheels.” Oh, and don’t worry; they make sure to get in some Instagram time too, with some pretty adorable pics that capture the essence of their friendship.

It’s safe to say that Normani and Ariana have become close while on tour together; both are incredibly talented and known to release bop after bop, enriching the pop scene with their musical prowess and vision. Normani isn’t shy about sharing her feelings about Ari, either. “I feel like she’s had an incredible year, especially going through as much as she has,” she told People. “The way that she’s handled things, not only as an artist, but as a woman — I think she’s the definition of resilience.”

And it’s clear that Ari feels the same way, having described Normani as “beautiful and talented” back in November when she announced that the former Fifth Harmony singer would be joining her on tour. “I’m feeling so special right now,” Normani said in turn, adding that “excited” would be an understatement.

Wow! Can we come along on the Sweetener world tour, please? We’ll bring extra face masks, promise.
