Normani celebrated her standout year in style.

The "Wild Side" singer attended Variety's Hitmakers Brunch in LA yesterday, where she was honored with the Collaborator of the Year award. For the event, the pop star donned a sleek sheer mini dress and matching tights from Mugler's fall/winter 2021 collection. She layered a black strapless bra under the look, which features an intricate star pattern, with a pair of silver hoops as her only accessories.

The sexy look capped off a year where the pop star embraced a more mature and sensual sound with her hit single, which features rap superstar Cardi B. She has also collaborated with artists including Megan Thee Stallion, Sam Smith, and Khalid over her solo career, as well as her longtime choreographer Sean Bankhead.

The "Motivation" singer accepted her award with a heartfelt speech about overcoming self-doubt, calling the honor "really, really big for me."

"I've always felt growing up, like, really, really overlooked. And I always had this fear of being seen. My mom would always ask me, 'Why be in a girl group?' She's like, 'Is it so you can hide?' And I really feel like God clearly had other plans for me, and he made me uncomfortable, which was good because sometimes I get so in my head and, like Sean was saying, I'm a perfectionist, and I often get in my own way a lot of the time, but I'm just really grateful for the people surrounding me..."

Normani spoke to Bazaar.com earlier this year about her upcoming music, including a highly anticipated studio album.

"The new music is a lot darker and edgier sonically," she explained. "I think that's just because I grew up listening to a lot of '90s R&B—and I love pop as well—but I think for me, a main goal is really not to be limited [musically] and really wanting to be genre-less. A lot of the music that I've released even before my solo endeavors, I wasn't completely fulfilled. And I always say that this is a rebirth and a chance for me to have a second go-around and do things my way. My main goal is also just to show people that I'm grown now."
