Norma Kamali is heading straight into spring with optimism. Much like her upcoming memoir and guidebook, “I Am Invincible,” Kamali has always pulled from her personal life experiences to create with purpose. Her spring designs centered around the same ethos as her upcoming novel: to bring forth joy and uplift women.

“My job as a designer, I am here to offer the tools to empower women so they do feel invincible,” Kamali explained in a video presentation of her spring array. While her upcoming book gives advice on how to navigate each decade of life with purpose and authority, Kamali’s ready-to-wear offers an accessible wardrobe for said lifestyle.

The designer’s spring mood boards start with an optimistic look — happy, holographic garments — and flow into a neutral palette of black, white and gray tones in a plethora of prints. For instance, enticing graphic print designed from tie-dyed jeans, which Kamali had hand-dyed 30 years ago, and textural acid-wash casual sets. The looks were styled with an energetic mélange of ideas — stripes and color blocked offerings styled with stretchy black lace layers — but upheld her continual ethos of versatile, easy-to-wear (and take care of) garments.
