Paul Smith is bringing his unique world of color to Nordstrom’s men’s store.

From March 6 to April 30, the retailer will open the Paul Smith Clubhouse at Nordstrom NYC, a takeover that will feature cocktails and bites in addition to apparel, all inspired by the U.K.-based designer’s mantra of “classic with a twist.”

The Clubhouse will feature Paul Smith’s signature stripe along with solid wall coverings, special glassware and furniture that replicates one of the many colors found in the stripe.

The shop will also include a mix of art, photography and ephemera that have been collected or sent to the designer over the years. Coffee-table books, hand selected by Smith, will also be placed throughout the space.

The spring collection, titled, “What is a suit,” tackles that menswear staple in all its forms, from classic tailoring to military uniforms. The tailored silhouette has a ‘60s-inspired spirit with high break points and elongated silhouettes, and the offering includes playful takes on classic menswear fabrics such as polka dots, pinstripes and herringbones. A key print in the collection this season is orchid floral.

“Sir Paul Smith’s menswear bona fides are self-evident, and he remains one of the most inspirational and important designers in the industry,” said Jian DeLeon, men’s fashion director for Nordstrom. “He’s been able to sustain his longevity in the business through listening to his customers over the decades while successfully leading them through different eras of style. That balance of aspiration, accessibility and down-to-earth, conversational approach to fashion is something we’re equally passionate about at Nordstrom. At the end of the day, we’re both fully invested in helping customers look great and feel their best.”

DeLeon and Smith will sit down for a fireside chat at the Nordstrom men’s store on March 6 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to introduce the shop to customers.

“It’s such an honor to be partnering with Nordstrom and I’m excited for people to see the project we have coming up,” Smith said. “I started my own business more than 50 years ago and I’m immensely proud of the independence and from-the-heart approach that we maintain today. There are a lot of parallels with Nordstrom with Erik, Pete and Jamie [Nordstrom] still heavily involved in the running of the company and I’m delighted to be working together.”

Some of the menu highlights at the Clubhouse will include beef tartare, shrimp cocktail, lobster rolls, a charcuterie board and a gem Caesar salad that can each be paired with an espresso martini, bramble, gimlet, Kentucky mule or non-alcoholic elderflower spritz. Prices range from $8 for the non-alcoholic elderflower spritz to $28 for the lobster roll.

Paul Smith founded his business in Nottingham, England, in 1970 and it has now grown to encompass 130 shops in 60 countries.
