How will the nor'easter affect flights? You might want to sit down for this

Planning an early March vacation? In that case, you may be panicking over how this upcoming nor’easter will affect flights, especially if your destination isn’t a simple car ride away.

A nor’easter is a cyclone that brings high winds and often heavy rains and snow, and when one springs up, it’s best to stay inside. Strong winds are expected to hit the East Coast, and flood warnings are in effect from New England all the way down to North Carolina. The current nor’easter, also known as Winter Storm Riley, is expected to start causing trouble Thursday night, March 1st, and stick around through the weekend.

If you’re traveling, you might want to brace yourself for some bad news. A few airlines are thinking ahead and have already canceled flights.

The good news is that most airlines are waiving change and cancel fees, as reported by Time. JetBlue will be offering free cancellations up until March 6th for those traveling to New York or Philadelphia. American Airlines is also offering a similar deal to customers traveling between March 2nd and 3rd when the storm is supposed to hit. Southwest is already reaching out to customers regarding a potential cancellation, and Delta is reportedly waiving their fee for customers who rebook through them and schedule their travel before March 6th.

Basically, even though you’ve probably been looking forward to your getaway, Mother Nature may have other plans. Just remember: Safety first!
