Nomination period opens for Hesperia's Pride Enhancement Program

Nominations are now being accepted for Hesperia's "Pride Enhancement Program," in which residents can win $1,000 in gift cards by displaying their community pride through beautifying their homes.

Nominations will be accepted through May 15, city officials said in a written statement.

"Do you have a neighbor who takes pride in the curb appeal of their home? Do your neighbors always compliment your home's landscaping? Nominate your neighbor or yourself for a chance to win $1,000 in gift cards and help the city reward Hesperia residents for contributing to the aesthetic appeal of the community," the statement said.

A winner will be selected during each of the quarterly city council advisory committee meetings, which take place on the first Thursdays of June, September and December.

The selected homeowners each will receive a $500 gift card for Harbor Freight and a $500 gift card for Tractor Supply Co., city officials said. They will also be recognized during the following city council meetings and presented with signs to display on their properties.

Nomination forms must be submitted along with "before" and "after" photos depicting the improvements.

Features that are considered for the contest include manicured landscaping, drought-tolerant vegetation, driveway resurfacing, window enhancements, exterior paint, overall curb appeal and more.
