This NOLA-Famous Shrimp-and-Grits Recipe Will Be Your New Go-To

When I went to New Orleans, I brought home a new favorite recipe.

On a recent trip to New Orleans for the Sugar Bowl, my family stayed at the historic Hotel Monteleone in the French Quarter. We scooted across Royal Street to Mr. B’s Bistro for the quintessential New Orleans brunch experience, and I could not get enough of the bacon-wrapped shrimp-and-grits. As a beach lover and a Southerner, shrimp-and-grits has long been a staple in my entertaining repertoire. But this one was something special. I couldn’t pinpoint what set the recipe apart from my own version, so I asked our server if he would share the kitchen’s recipe. To my surprise, he obliged. Maybe it’s the bacon; maybe it’s the red-eye gravy ... or maybe it’s the happy memory of sipping pear bellinis with my husband and playing tic-tac-toe with our children while a jazz trio channeled Louis Armstrong and decorated football fans reveled in it all. Today it’s still my go-to for dinner parties and beach-house soirees.

Mr. B’s Bistro is located at 201 Royal St. in New Orleans. See the full recipe for its bacon-wrapped shrimp-and-grits: Mr. B's Bistro Bacon-Wrapped Shrimp-and-Grits
