The Great British Bake Off presenter Noel Fielding likes to be naughty in front of the cameras but it turns out that he actually does get told off behind-the-scenes for his antics.

2020 finalist Laura Adlington, who along with Dave Friday was a runner-up to Peter Sawkins, told Metro.co.uk that Noel was always getting up to no good while the show was being recorded and would cause havoc for producers during the technical rounds by swapping photos of the bakers.

"He used to play a game where he'd steal the pictures of the bakers and he'd swap them around just for a laugh," she said. "The producers would then have to watch the footage back to see whose was whose so the judges couldn't give us the wrong feedback."

Viewers often see Noel perched on fridges and counters during the show, as well as making full use of props like Mr Spoon, which earned the comedian a number of Ofcom complaints.

But Laura revealed that although Noel was often in line for a telling-off from producers, his presence made the competition even more fun for the bakers.

"He's so funny, he's like a big kid really," she said. "He was always getting told off by producers. They'd say things like, 'Hurry up, slow down, get off the fridge, get out the fridge.' He would just mess about all the time."

Laura was also full of praise for Noel's co-host Matt Lucas, who made his Bake Off debut this year, revealing that he used to visit the bakers while they practiced their creations on their days off from filming.

"He really cared about all of the bakers and would come and see us in the practice kitchen on his days off," she said. "He's a really genuine and lovely human being, they both are."

Laura also spoke about her feelings over the controversial semi-final exit of fellow contestant Hermine, an incident which sadly led to Laura being trolled.

"I hadn't prepared for the final at all and I just felt very guilty for Hermine because I knew how much she wanted it," she said. "I knew that she's a far better baker than I am and I don't say that in a 'poor me' way, that's just fact. I'm alright, but she was fantastic."
