Since Noah Thompson was declared the American Idol winner in May, rumors have swirled that he and his girlfriend Angel Dixon had broken up and he began dating Idol runner-up HunterGirl. While Noah recently tried shutting down the gossip, it's believed by some that Angel may now be speaking out in her own way about the situation.

On July 8, Angel, who is a mom to her and Noah's infant son Walker, posted two Instagram photos of herself. Though she doesn’t show her face in the pics, the back of her jeans are filled with colorful wildflowers. According to her caption, the props seemed to symbolize a struggle she was experiencing.

“Flowers grow out of dark moments🌻🖤,” she wrote alongside the snaps.

Reacting to Angel’s Instagram post, her followers sent heartfelt and encouraging messages in the comments section. “Everything you and Noah have done for your son is truly amazing,” one person said, in part. “He did an amazing job being himself and winning idol while you were killing it at home raising your son by yourself ❤️ Your son has a beautiful future ahead because of both of you.” Angel replied: “Aww, you don’t know how much this means to me. Thank you so so much. 🥺❤️.”

After Noah's win on the ABC competition show, he and Angel appeared to unfollow each other on social media, further fueling breakup rumors.

On July 15, Noah announced the release of a country version of Rihanna’s R&B ballad “Stay.” He first performed the cover during Hollywood Week after a “shaky” duet threatened to cost him a spot in the top 24. Before presenting his unique rendition in front of American Idol judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie, Noah revealed what inspired his choice.

“This isn’t a song I would usually do but it reminds me of being back home because it is a song me and my girlfriend Angel would sing together,” he said.

Noah didn’t mention this anecdote when he shared a teaser of his studio recording. “Stay” out July 29th. Link in bio to pre-save and pre-add. #stay,” he captioned a 30-second Instagram video.
