No One Really Knows What Will Happen to the 'Brady Bunch' House After the HGTV Show Ends

Whether you're in it for the HGTV stars or the original Brady Bunch crew, odds are you've got a reason to be just as invested as we are in A Very Brady Renovation. The four-part TV series, which chronicles the renovation of the family home from the beloved 1970s show, is nearing its final episode—and to say we're loving it would be an understatement. Where else can you find throwback television stars and Jonathan and Drew Scott of Property Brothers?

Of course, as fun as the actual renovation has been, it's safe to say we're most intrigued by the things we haven't yet seen—namely, the aftermath of this whole thing. After the camera crews pack their bags and our favorite step-siblings head out, what does HGTV plan to do with this gorgeous North Hollywood home, anyway?

We've got answers.

Wait, what was the deal with the Brady Bunch house before the show?

Great question. The split-level ranch was originally used for all exterior shots of the Bradys' home in the hit TV show. The 3-bedroom, 3-bath, and 2,477-square-feet space was eventually purchased by George and Violet McCalister in 1973 for $61,000.

It wasn't until last July that the McCallisters' children put the house on the market, this time pricing it at a whopping $1.8 million. The event marked the first time the home had been put up for sale in 50 years, so it's not surprising that it drew eyes from all over the country. In August 2018, *NSYNC singer Lance Bass threw his hat in the ring to be its new owner, but was out-bid by HGTV, who bought it for $3.5 million and began production of A Very Brady Renovation shortly afterwards.

Will HGTV sell the newly-renovated home?

Here's hoping! CountryLiving.com reached out to Discovery, Inc., HGTV's parent network, for information about whether the Brady Bunch home will be back on the market anytime soon, and were informed that plans for the house have not yet been announced.

Will HGTV offer tours?

As of yet, there are no tours being offered—though that may change after the show wraps. However, one lucky fan will get the chance to peek inside for six whole nights. HGTV's A Very Brady Contest, which ran from July 15 to September 11, asked fans to submit videos explaining why they deserved a chance to stay in the home from December 9 to 15, 2019. The winner hasn't yet been announced.

If you missed the contest, don't worry: You'll still have a chance to get back in...at least via the small screen. HGTV will also be airing a holiday episode of A Very Brady Renovation later this year!

There is one exception to the "no tours" policy, though: Just this week, Lance Bass was offered the opportunity to check out the home. HGTV posted a short clip on Instagram that showed off the fun experience, and in it, the 40-year-old singer explains that he's no longer disappointed about losing last year's bidding war.

“Now, we all remember I almost got this house," he says in the clip. "But I’m super excited HGTV got it because I know it’s in good hands. Honey, I’m home!”
