Nina Dobrev’s Teen Choice Awards Lipstick Was Inspired by Marilyn Monroe

Nina Dobrev is a red carpet stunner every time she steps out at an awards show, but at the 2018 Teen Choice Awards, she made more of a statement than ever, letting her lips — well, her lipstick — do the talking.

The star showed off a set of bright red lips that popped against the rest of her beauty look, which was downright natural in comparison. The modern take on a 1950s vibe was created by Nina’s go-to makeup artist, Georgie Eisdell, who used Lancôme’s collaboration with fashion powerhouse Proenza Schouler to master the style.

For Nina's killer look, Georgie used the collab's Lip Kajal in Bold Red 03 for an effect that works both day and night. While summer is already a season to try out all those bright and bold beauty looks you’ve been eyeing, the Teen Choice Awards red carpet is always that mid-summer event that celebs tend to take their favorites out for a spin, offering up some major inspiration as we head into fall.

Teen Vogue chatted with Georgie, who told us that she “wanted [Nina’s] look to be super cool and effortless,” adding, “I went for a bare eye, strong red lip, and gorgeous dewy skin. As for her inspiration? Georgie shared, “I always love a classic Marilyn Monroe moment and Nina looks so great with a red lip so it was the perfect choice for the event.” Agreed.
