It might be the middle of July, but Nina Dobrev is out here embracing oversized blazers during her recent trip to NYC. Despite the heat, Nina got busy celebrating her new DuJour magazine cover while rocking a black polka-dotted blazer and transparent bra top that showed off her strong abs.

Nina wore a pair of short-shorts under the blazer, which emphasized her long, toned legs, and topped off the look with a fun updo. One thing is clear: The Vampire Diaries actress is seriously strong and happy right now–and who wouldn’t be? Celebrating a new magazine cover in Manhattan sounds pretty awesome.

But back to Nina’s abs for a moment. Wondering how the 34-year-old works on total-body toning? Luckily, she’s provided some tips through the years, so Women’s Health has answers.

The first thing to know is that Nina amped up her home gym set up during COVID quarantine, and invested in lots of cardio equipment like a NordicTrack Treadmill and a SoulCycle at-home bike. This makes squeezing in her workouts a lot easier, she told Shape.


"I'm really proud of my home gym, I use it a lot," she shared. "It's really nice to have that flexibility of working out, whether it's really early in the morning before I got to set, or really late a night when I get home from set, or after a long flight."

It should come as no surprise that Nina goes super hard at the (regular) gym, too. In 2019, she shared a video of herself with her friend Zac Efron training together. And these two were not messing around! In the "Gym Time w/ Zac Efron"segment, Nina pushed Zach on a sled, and held some seriously long planks. Talk about an intense sweat sesh!

All those workouts necessitate a lot of good nutrition, and Nina's got her health food on lock. Back in 2021, Nina shared her typical diet with Harper's Bazaar's "Food Diaries." She starts her day with a cup of strong coffee with almond milk and Stevia, and enjoys a protein smoothie for breakfast. (BTW, she usually makes the smoothie with banana, avocado, almond butter, spinach, arugula, collagen, and HUM Nutrition Raw Beauty powder.) Nina also tries to eat every two hours to keep her metabolism up, so she snacks on almonds and granola throughout the day.

Lunch for Nina usually involves a salad, and she likes to cook dinner at home using one of Chrissy Teigen’s cookbooks! Sounds like a pretty delish set-up to me.
