Nikita Dragun Says Her Lying Ex-Boyfriend Inspired Her Controversial 2019 MTV VMAs Look

From Seventeen

Nikita Dragun's 2019 MTV Video Music Awards look shocked the world, but now she's opening up about the deep meaning behind it that people certainly didn't know about.

While she won't be walking down the red carpet for the 2020 VMAs, Nikita looked back at her iconic look from the previous year and revealed that the idea came to her after an ex-boyfriend tried to spread a rumor that he was hired to be with her.

She also didn't have a lot of time to put a look together Since she only found out that she was going to the Video Music Awards three days prior. Nikita also mentioned on her Instagram story although she sparked some controversy after walking down the red carpet, it was actually a play on Snoop Dogg's 2003 VMAs look when he showed up with two women on leashes.

"Put a finger down if ur ex spread a rumor that he was a hired boyfriend when y’all were really f*kin on the low but he was too insecure to be in a relationship with a Trans girl so when the VMAs hit u up 3 days before the show u decided to make a statement by walking and hiring 3 boys across the red carpet in front of every celebrity imaginable inspired by snoop dogg and ended up making the most controversial and talked about moments of the 2019 MTV VMAs and will forever be known as the girl who walked men on diamond leashes.......... ☝🏼" she wrote.

"If I 'hired' a boyfriend and it didn't work out that well, let me hire three," she said on her Instagram story.
