Nike’s Sustainable Space Hippie Shoes Are Dropping In New Colorways This Month

More colorways of Nike’s eco-friendly Space Hippie sneakers are releasing soon.

The sportswear giant confirmed on the SNKRS app that “Healing Jade” iterations of the Space Hippie 01 and the 03 silhouettes, as well as a black and volt colorway of the 01, will arrive before month’s end. Nike revealed the Space Hippie line in May 2020, with the brand describing it as an exploratory footwear collection made with “space junk,” which is in part due to a portion of the shoes being constructed with recycled contents.

The Space Hippie 01 in both the “Healing Jade” and black and volt color schemes features at least 50 percent recycled material by weight and it features a “Space Waste Yarn” upper that’s made from about 85 percent recycled polyester and is crafted with repurposed plastic bottles, t-shirts and yarn scraps. The sustainable design elements continue with the footbeds shoe’s made from ZoomX foam scraps, which is the same cushioning from Nike’s popular Next% running line. Capping off the design is a Crater Foam midsole made from a blend of recycled foams while still providing stability to the shoe.

Just like the aforementioned shoe, the Space Hippie 03 is made from recycled materials but this time using about 45 percent of repurposed materials by weight including the “Space Waste Yarn” upper that’s paired with a FastFit lacing system. Completing the look is a recycled Crater Foam midsole underneath. Adding to the brand’s sustainable efforts, each shoe comes in a single shoebox made and printed with plant-based ink.

The Nike Space Hippie 01 and 03 in both the “Healing Jade” and black and volt colorways are releasing via the SNKRS app and at select Nike Sportswear retailers for prices ranging from $130 to $180.
