Nike’s Legendary Dunk Low CO.JP ‘Plum’ Is Rereleasing for Only the Second Time Ever

This month, Nike will bring back one of the Japan-exclusive Dunks from the early ’00s that helped pave the way for sneaker culture today.

The Dunk Low CO.JP “Plum” is rereleasing for only the second time since its original launch in 2001. At its origin, the “Plum” was one of three Dunk Lows referred to as the “Ugly Duckling” pack. CO.JP releases, short for “Concept Japan,” were exclusive to Japan and helped inspire the launch of Nike SB Dunks several years later. Collectors across the world would devise ways to land the rare pairs, making the “Plum” Dunk along with its “Veneer” and “Ceramic” counterparts highly collectable.

Nike brought back the Dunk Low “Plum” for the first time ever in 2020, and now it’s returning just four years later with the same suede makeup with red and two shades of purple. Light purple overlays sit beneath dark purple overlays, while the Swoosh, mustache, laces, outsole, and tongue branding all appear in red.

Resale prices for the 2020 rerelease have been driven down significantly with news of the follow-up, especially because this year’s drop carries the same SKU. That trend shouldn’t take away from the historical merit of the “Plum” Dunk, which many will be eager to get yet another shot at, much like the “Brazil” Dunk that returned again in February.

The Nike Dunk Low “Plum” will release March 21 through the Snkrs app. Pricing is set at $115.
