Worn by Kobe Bryant during the first half of the 2011-2012 season, the Nike Kobe 8 Protro are returning in an angelic "Triple White" colorway.

Arriving on August 23 to celebrate the basketball legend's birthday, the Kobe 8 is a favorite amongst athletes like Ja Morant and Jordan Poole for a reason. "I'm always focused on improving my game, to perform at my best," the late Kobe Bryant stated at the unveiling in 2012. "By shaving fractions off the height and weight, it allows me to play faster with more control. I want to feel like I’m moving at the speed of light."

Designed by Eric Avar, the sneaker takes inspiration from the less hands on sport of soccer, resulting in a low-cut silhouette that is as light as a feather. An all-white mesh adorns the upper, boasting embroidered Swooshes as well as branding on the tongue. Pebbled leather takes over the overlays, joining Braille-like perforation on the back of the Zoom Air midsole and slightly spiked outsoles, standing its ground on any court. A black wedge breaks up the monochromatic sneaker, rounding out the formidable aesthetic.

Kicking off the relaunch of Black Mamba's signature line, the Nike Kobe 8 Protro will drop via Nike and select retailers on August 23, 2023 for $180 USD. Take a look in the gallery above.
